Sustainability and environmental consciousness
Sustainability and environmental awareness are not just lip service for us, but an important part of our corporate philosophy. We are continuously committed to reducing our ecological footprint and already operate our self-storage location in Vienna South CO2-neutrally. Our goal is to convert all other locations to CO2-neutral operation as well.
In addition, we actively support projects for the preservation and renaturation of rainforests as well as for the promotion of the environment. At STORE ROOM you will not only find a safe and convenient storage space, but also a responsible choice for the environment.
Environmentally conscious: Digital operation without paper
STORE ROOM relies on a completely digital operation that offers numerous advantages for both customers and employees: By digitising all processes, we ensure full transparency, easy handling and maximum flexibility. At the same time, we actively contribute to environmental protection, as we completely dispense with paper. In this way, we not only minimise the consumption of resources, but also reduce CO2 emissions. At STORE ROOM, we are consistently committed to sustainability and environmental awareness.
CO2 neutral: STORE ROOM Vienna South
The construction of the STORE ROOM site south of Vienna was not only based on innovative architecture, but also on the building’s own photovoltaic system. This is one of the largest self-consumption power plants in Lower Austria and not only covers STORE ROOM’s own needs, but also supplies surrounding consumers. This enables CO2-neutral operation, which protects the environment in the long term.
In addition to the photovoltaic system, STORE ROOM Wien-Süd also relies on an environmentally friendly construction method that guarantees ideal conditions in the storage rooms and also saves energy. The facility has its own absorption chillers, green roofs to improve the microclimate and a rainwater collection system that is reused to irrigate the outdoor facilities. STORE ROOM Wien-Süd thus focuses not only on the highest quality and comfort for customers, but also on sustainability and environmental protection.
Sustainable: Protect rainforest
Our mission of “sustainability” continues. At STORE ROOM, we have also made it our goal to protect the rainforest:
That’s why we support the “COBIGA” (Corredor Biológico La Gamba) project in Costa Rica and buy one m² of rainforest for every m² of storage space booked with us!
The project “COBIGA” aims to connect the lowland rainforests of the Golfo Dulce with the mountain rainforests of the Fila Cal by acquiring land in order to prevent fragmentation of the rainforest and to counteract erosion by reforesting fallow land.
Every bee counts: Project "Hectar Nectar"
Environment and social responsibility are particularly close to our hearts. This naturally applies to the diligent bees as well. For the environment, they are of invaluable importance as industrious visitors of flowers and plants. Just as they make their valuable contribution to the ecosystem, we also want to take another important step towards a sustainable future.
Thanks to PROJECT 2028, there are over 30 million more bees buzzing in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. Out of the strong community of around 6,500 members of beekeepers, over 750 beekeepers have already been supported.
Our commitment to PROJECT 2028 is a dedication to regional support: supporting people and consuming products from the region.
