What does STORE ROOM Smart Self Storage insurance cover?
With STORE ROOM Smart Self Storage, you can comprehensively insure your stored belongings. Our insurance protects your items up to a value of € 4,000 – and even more if you wish.
The following types of damage are insured:
Fire damage: Protection in the event of fire, lightning, explosion and damage caused by crashing or impacting aircraft.
Burglary: The insurance covers damage caused by actual or attempted burglaries, including damage caused by vandalism.
Tap water damage: This covers damage caused by leaking water from water pipes, hot water supply systems or central heating systems.
Storm damage: Damage caused by storm, hail, snow pressure, rockfall, falling rocks and landslides is included.
Disaster protection: Extended protection in the event of damage caused by high water, flooding, backwater, rising groundwater levels, mudslides, earthquakes, avalanches and other natural events.
Please note: Cash, stamps, gold, silver and jewelry are excluded from the insurance cover.

Am I not automatically covered by my household insurance?
You may be wondering whether your existing household insurance also covers your stored goods in a self-storage facility. The answer is yes.
Some household insurance policies cover external storage – but often only under certain conditions, for example:
Limited sums insured
Limited periods
Only if there is a demonstrable need, such as a move or renovation
If in doubt, you should ask your insurance company directly and obtain written confirmation as to whether and to what extent your stored goods are protected.

How much does self-storage insurance cost at STORE ROOM?
With STORE ROOM Smart Self Storage, customers can take out insurance for the value of their stored goods as part of their booking.
The sums insured start at €4,000 and range in increments up to a maximum value of goods of €50,000. The monthly costs for the insurance increase depending on the amount of cover selected: they start at €1.40 per month for insurance over €4,000 and reach €17.50 per month for cover over €50,000. This flexible model allows users to individually adjust the insurance to the value of their stored goods.
